‘VAACHAN PRERNA DIWAS” was celebrated on 15th October, 2017 to pay homage to our former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam who loved reading and writing. This day is observed so that students understand the importance of reading and are encouraged to develop it as a hobby. The Program was conductedin the second year studio, 2nd floor, at 2P.M onwards in B.R. Harne College of Architecture, Karav, Vangani.
The hosts Master Abhishek Gurav and Miss Anusha Mhatre, inaugurated the eventwith Deep Prajwalan Ceremony by inviting Principal Dr. Sudnya Mahimkar, Prof. Sanjay Shirgaonkar, Prof. VivekVilekar, Prof. Rupali Vaidya and Student Council President Rasika Deosthali.

The first performance was a song ‘He ShardeMaa’ chanted by first year students Sarnali and KhushbuDhabade worshipping Goddess Saraswati who is the fountain head of all learning and art forms, seeking wisdom, artistic and technical skills, academic excellence and a good heart. Yash Khadakban, student from Third Year, addressed with a brief speech on Dr. Kalam and his achievements and how he had ignited millions of youth in the country through his writings.A PowerPoint Presentation on the life history of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was shown to the students. The program continued with a short poem presented by Preeti from First Year followed by reading on a novel named ‘Meluha’ read by Pratheek Prajapati, a T hird Year Student. A classic song by Pandit HridaynathMangeshkarnamed ‘SunyaSunyaMaifilitMajhya’ was sung by Nikhil Nichite, a Third Year Student.Rudra Bhise from 2nd year shared his opinion and views on a book series called ‘Series of Star Wars’.AdeshKhanikar, a Third Year student presented a sweet poem in marathi on Aai (Mother) expressing love and respect for each every mother. Harshad Patil, gave a short speech on a book read by him, named ‘Yuganta’ which studies the principal, mythical-heroic figures of the Mahabharata from historical, anthropological and secular perspectives.
Then Khushbudhabade from First year talked about a modern concept of ‘Fandom’ where fans are deeply connected with a fictional universe. Then Yash Khadakban from 3rd year poetically potrayed the efforts and hardships faced by the parents to meet children’s needs. NiaytiAhire, a student of first year, shared her feelings in a precise manner, when she read out a poem ‘I love reading books’. Then was a synopsis of the book ‘Idli, orchid ani mi’ presented by the third year
student PrakalpaShelar, who gave us an insight of what lied beneath those covers with such an interesting name. Chandravardhan Singh and Akash Singh, Students of second year, then presented a provoking poem questioning the present day India, and that in the dreams of Bhagat Singh.ThenLipi Mehta, a first year student, gave a stand-up comic performance which highly amused the audience. Then Shrishank Rudra from third year, talked about his book ‘Once again I fell in love’ with such deep emotions that he connected well with you the audience. Then, Shubhashree Kadam from second year gave a performance from the Marathi author ‘D.M.Mirasdar’. Then Harshad Patil, from third year, recited a humorous poem about an incident over a wrong number, and it had the audience chuckling with laughter.
The program came to a smooth ending when the last speech from our beloved professor, Ar.Sanjay Shirgaonkar shared about how reading has evolved over three decades. And lastly, with a vote of thanks by our Students’ council president RasikaDeosthali the event ended successfully.
The last line, a thought provocative statement from the host Abhishek Gurav, ‘Vaachal tar Vachal’ gave a gist of the event.
